Early Tuesday, a speeding incident involving a Chicago Police Department (CPD) squad car unfolded in the Portage Park neighborhood. A Toyota sedan reportedly swerved into the squad car while traveling at high speed in the 5100 block of West Sunnyside Avenue, Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The vehicle, carrying four occupants, continued after the collision and subsequently hit two other parked vehicles. After coming to a halt, the individuals in the Toyota fled the scene on foot. Chicago Police state, that following the incident, two handguns were found inside the car. As of now, no one has been arrested and no injuries have been reported in the accident.

Separately, FOX 32 Chicago provided details that confirmed the collision happened around 2:00 A.M. and further clarified that the impacted CPD squad car was indeed sideswiped by the Toyota sedan.

The Chicago Police Department did not release any additional information regarding potential leads or the identification of the suspects involved.
