In a season marked by giving and unity, the Dade County Federal Credit Union (DCFCU) has successfully executed its second annual toy drive yesterday, a compassionate initiative aimed at brightening the holiday experience for local children. As reported by Local10, the effort is focused on delivering toys to students at Miami Gardens Elementary, Melrose Elementary, Toussaint Elementary, and the youths engaged with Urgent Inc.’s after-school program.

Notably, laden with an abundance of around 3,000 toys, a festive caravan consisting of 10 vehicles — with DCFCU’s Mobile Branch notably taking part — set off from the credit union's headquarters on NW 107 Avenue. Federica Chalumeau, Senior VP of Sales and Operations at DCFCU, conveyed to Local10 their enthusiasm for the toy drive, “We are thrilled to bring joy to these children through our toy drive,” she said. "We believe every child deserves a happy holiday, and we’re dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of our community’s youth."

According to coverage by WSVN, the preparation for the toy drive witnessed volunteers eagerly bundling various toys — including popular choices like Disney and Lego brands — destined for the holiday celebration. These efforts were compounded with help from local law enforcement, ensuring a safe and orderly distribution.

Amidst the bustling activity of the quintessential holiday season, the executive construct behind this operation, Annie Wilkinson, the Executive Vice President of DCFCU, noted in an interview with WSVN the significance of the collective spirit, “It is so important for the community to come together and serve the children that all need toys during the Christmas season,” while the vehicles bearing gifts departed to distribute holiday cheer among the children.
