
A somber discovery was made on a suburban trail in Wheaton on Wednesday morning when a body was found, prompting a death investigation by local authorities. According to NBC Chicago, the Wheaton Police Department received a call at approximately 7:20 a.m. about the deceased individual, located near the Union Avenue trailhead at Lincoln Marsh.
The report of the body was made by an individual who was walking along the trail, however, the police have assured there is no immediate threat to public safety. ABC7 Chicago notes that details regarding the age, gender, and identity of the deceased were still pending as the investigation proceeded.
Wheaton police stated in a release, "The Wheaton Police Department is currently conducting a death investigation and will provide additional information once it is available." The DuPage County Coroner's office is also involved, working with multiple agencies to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death.
A police presence continued to maintain vigilance in the Lincoln Marsh area, with investigators combing through the vicinity where the unknown individual's life seemed to have reached its untimely conclusion, suggesting a certain meticulous concern as they pieced together the available evidence. "There is no current threat to the public," police reasserted, aiming to quell any arising fear among community members due to the unsettling discovery.
