As per the announcement from the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, the arrival of this route is set to simplify travel for folks tied to the defense and biotech sectors, all among those with stakes rooted deep in the heartbeat of governmental proceedings. This development arrives courtesy of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, which loosened the ties of a longstanding perimeter rule that normally limits nonstop flights to those cities within a 1,250-mile radius of DCA unless special dispensation is granted.
"We are very pleased with the DOT’s approval of Alaska Airlines to begin service between SAN and DCA," remarked Kimberly J. Becker, President and CEO of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority.
