A tragedy unfolded in an Antioch parking lot where an attempted robbery turned deadly, claiming the lives of two men in what appears to be a mutually lethal exchange of gunfire. The incident, which occurred on December 7 at the Delta Bowl parking lot, has been closely examined by Antioch Police Department detectives, who have ruled out any personal connection between the suspect and the victim. In a statement obtained by Hoodline, officials reported finding both individuals with gunshot wounds. A 34-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 35-year-old man succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.
The investigation led by the Violent Crimes Unit revealed surveillance footage and further evidence that shed light on the circumstances leading to the fatal encounter. The Antioch Police Department's social media post confirmed that the firearms used were recovered and will undergo ballistic imaging to help piece together the events of that tragic night. Much remains unclear about the motives that sparked the lethal confrontation, with police still appealing to the public for any information related to the case.
No additional suspects are currently being sought in connection to this isolated incident. The names of the deceased have not been released pending notification of next of kin, maintaining a veil of privacy in the immediate wake of the tragedy.
