
A tragic incident occurred in Douglas, GA, where 17-year-old Miguel Gonzalez has been arrested and charged with the murder of his father, Israel Rivera Cruz, and the wounding of his mother, Jasmine Gonzalez. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has charged him with aggravated assault, felony murder, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call on Tuesday, in the early morning hours, an incident which eventually led to Miguel's arrest for shooting his father multiple times during what appears to have been a family dispute turned violent while in a struggle over the gun Miguel also shot his mother who was treated and later released from the hospital. The case, which remains active and ongoing, saw Miguel taken into custody at the scene and is now being held at Coffee County Jail, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is helping the local Sheriff's Office investigate a shooting on Park Place Road. The victim, Israel Rivera Cruz, 45, will have an autopsy at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation office in Pooler, GA. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Georgia Bureau of Investigation or Coffee County Sheriff's Office. Tips can be given anonymously. Once the investigation is finished, the case will be sent to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
