Tamarac has ushered in an era of representation and diversity with the recent appointment of Dr. Kicia Daniel as the first African American woman Vice Mayor in the city's history. Dr. Daniel, currently serving as a District 4 Commissioner, was unanimously selected by her peers during the City of Tamarac’s Regular City Commission Meeting on December 11, according to a City of Tamarac press release.
Since November 2022, Daniel has been serving on the Tamarac City Commission and has now also joined the 2024-2025 Broward League of Cities Board of Directors. Her dual roles signal a commitment to broadening the scope of her public service. "I am honored to step into the role of Vice Mayor of Tamarac," Dr. Daniel stated. "I will continue to work alongside my fellow elected officials and residents to meet the needs of Tamarac families, businesses and constituents," she reiterated in the same release, as per City of Tamarac press release.
Dr. Daniel, who holds an extensive educational background with degrees from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and Nova Southeastern University, is also a school principal within the Broward County Public Schools. Her emphasis on education and leadership is evident in her professional and political paths, showcasing a career dedicated to learning and community.
