An unidentified man tragically lost his life in a fiery crash on Sunday night in Nashville. The accident, involving a single vehicle, occurred on the 1700 block of Lebanon Pike around 9 p.m., according to a report from the Metro Nashville Police Department.
The initial investigation suggests the man was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck eastward at what appeared to be a high rate of speed. The vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the road rightly, leading to a collision with a utility pole and subsequently a tree. The truck was engulfed in flames soon after the impact. A witness to the devastating scene dialed 911, prompting the Nashville Fire Department to respond and extinguish the blaze.
Currently, the identity of the driver remains unknown. Efforts to identify him are underway by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Local authorities are continuing to investigate the crash. They are likely to thoroughly analyze the scene and the vehicle's wreckage to determine the specifics of the event. "The preliminary investigation shows that a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling east on Lebanon Pike at a high rate of speed when the vehicle failed to negotiate a slight curve in the roadway," the police reported. Further details are expected to be released once the investigation has definitively progressed.
