The Duluth Police Department has successfully apprehended a 23-year-old male, identified as Cole Saice, in connection with a recent theft involving over thirty hockey sticks stolen from the Mankato Hockey Team. In an official update, the department commended the collaborative efforts of their Patrol and Investigations Division in not only seizing the suspect but also ensuring the recovered sporting goods are returned to the rightful owners.
Before the arrest, a male was discovered during a late-night patrol on Saturday in the 100 block of E 3rd St, in possession of some of the stolen items—and although this individual claimed to have found the items and did not fit the description of the thief, he was detained at the county jail due to an unrelated warrant the arrest of Cole Saice and the recovery of the hockey sticks unfolded quickly thereafter.
The theft initially came to light on the morning of Saturday, when the Duluth Police were alerted to the overnight disappearance of hockey equipment from the 200 W Block of 1st Street. Active police work and diligent follow-ups have since painted a clearer picture of the events leading to the recovery of the stolen gear and the eventual arrest on Monday.
