An apartment fire in Phoenix early Saturday morning has displaced five people, leaving three units heavily damaged. Firefighters were dispatched to the vicinity of Thunderbird Road and 24th Street where they encountered the second floor of a two-story apartment complex ablaze, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix.
Upon arrival shortly before 5 a.m., crews quickly upgraded the incident to a first-alarm fire, with the majority of the damage affecting a second-floor unit, according to information obtained by 12 News. The roof of the building was punctured, a process usually employed for ventilation purposes during firefighting efforts.
All tenants were safely evacuated from the edifice and to assist these families, the Red Cross has been called in. Remarkably, no injuries were reported in the incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Phoenix Fire Department.
