An early morning blaze has left a Lincoln Heights residence in ruins, according to the Woodlawn Fire Department. The fire, which erupted in the 900 block of Shepard Lane, was reported at around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday. Captain Gavin Docherty stated that when crews arrived, they were faced with a fully engulfed home that is now considered a complete loss.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation with no clear indication as to how it started. Fortunately, "No injuries were reported to fire crews, pets, or owner(s)," Capt. Docherty said, in a statement obtained by FOX19. The estimated value of the damage is still unknown one might expect it to be significant given the extent of the destruction.
Local12's coverage emphasized the severity of the condition of the house post-fire, describing it as completely beyond repair. Despite the house still standing, the structural integrity has been compromised to the point of being unsalvageable. Further details on the incident are scarce, as "No information about what caused the fire was released" according to a report by Local12.
The Woodlawn Fire Department took to social media to commend the coordinated efforts of the emergency services, stating, "Great knockdown and work by all involved. We couldn’t be more thankful for the assistance of our mutual aid departments," recognizing the contributions of neighboring departments such as the Village of Lockland Fire Department, Reading Career Firefighters, Local 3717, and several others in a post found on their Facebook page. These collective efforts ensured the blaze was contained and further loss prevented.
