An East Palo Alto man was arrested last night in connection with an early morning shooting that left a man in critical condition in Mountain View. The victim, a 23-year-old male, was found with a gunshot wound on Sierra Vista Avenue around 2:05 a.m. and was quickly transported to a local hospital.

Following a swift investigation, the Mountain View Police Department (MVPD) was able to track down the alleged shooter, Hector Christopher Chavez, also 24, and take him into custody. According to the official report from the MVPD, the San Mateo County SWAT Team assisted in securely arresting Chavez at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Fordham Street in East Palo Alto. He is set to be booked for attempted murder at the Santa Clara County Jail.

MVPD has confirmed that no other suspects are being sought in connection with the case. However, the investigation remains active as detectives continue to delve further into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
