The El Cerrito community breathes a cautious sigh of relief as police arrest 28-year-old Hugo Antonio Martinez Ortigoza in connection with the recent sexual battery of a seriously disabled woman.
A Hoodline report described the suspect as a tall male with a slender or medium build, adorned in a grey or white top, dark bottoms, and white shoes. These details came as an incident occurred along Stockton Avenue near Elm Street, where a sight and hearing-impaired woman became an unprovoked target.
According to the El Cerrito Police Department, surveillance footage had shown a man trailing the woman moments before the assault. However, it was the combined efforts from the community that tips poured in, leading detectives to the identification and subsequent arrest of Martinez Ortigoza.
Arriving at the station backed by legal counsel, Martinez Ortigoza submitted to the authorities quietly, offering no statement to the investigative team.
