According to El Paso Matters, the final Fred Loya Christmas light show brightened the night for the last time this season on December 24, at the family's Eastside residence, offering shows at 6, 7, and 8 p.m.

KFOX-TV reports that locals are invited to take a dive into 2025 with a New Year's Day 'Plunge' at the Ascarate Pool. Opening at noon for a brief but memorable hour, participants are encouraged to take the plunge and capture the moment with post-dip photo opportunities.
This chilly plunge isn't just about bracing the cold water, it promises additional perks for swimmers. As reported by KTSM, the first 25 families to register will be gifted a free present, and all attendees will receive a voucher for a 30-minute swim lesson redeemable at the upcoming Spring 2025 Swim Marathon.
Completing the New Year's Day festivities, visitors to Ascarate Park can also experience the "Lights on the Lake" drive-thru display starting at 6 pm. The event, held after the pool has been warmed by the brave souls taking the plunge, offers a more serene cap to a day of invigorating celebration and community spirit.
