Residents of El Paso can expect a break from the chill as the National Weather Service forecasts a rise in temperatures following a cool and cloudy start today. According to the National Weather Service, the city will see a high near 56 degrees with light east winds moving at 3 to 8 mph. The chill in the air, however, has been consistent with a current temperature standing at 46 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind chill of 42 degrees.
Despite the overcast skies, the thermometer is set to climb, granting some respite to the city's residents who've been wrapped in layers. Tonight, the skies are predicted to clear up, paving the way for a starlit low around 40, accompanied by a gentle and variable wind.
The upcoming week appears to extend this welcomed warming trend. A detailed forecast by NWS indicates that Sunday will not only be sunny but also warmer, with a high near 65 and winds picking up aggression, gusting as high as 23 mph. The warmth of the sun will persist into Monday, with conditions similarly sunny and a high again near 65 degrees, while winds continue to demonstrate their presence with similar gusts.
Heading towards midweek, the skies remain clear with Tuesday and Wednesday both forecasted to be sunny, albeit with the high temperature dialing back to near 53. The evening times during these days will see temperatures descend, with Tuesday night expected to approach colder thresholds, hitting a low of around 30 degrees.
As the week progresses, El Pasoans can continue to enjoy outdoor activities under mostly sunny conditions, with highs tracing a gentle climb to 57 by Thursday and reaching 61 by Friday. Nighttime temperatures are predicted to be partly cloudy, staying above freezing with lows ranging from 32 on Wednesday night to a slightly toastier 37 by Thursday night.
