Tragedy struck on a late Friday night as yet another life was claimed on El Paso's roads. According to the City of El Paso, a single-vehicle accident took place at around 11:30 p.m. near I-10 and Mile Marker 13 (Sunland Park). The driver of a Ford Escape, for reasons not yet known, was unable to maintain her lane, leading to a harrowing crash off the roadway.
As the Special Traffic Investigations Unit continues to sort through the aftermath, the initial findings suggest that failure to maintain a single lane was the primary cause of the accident. This incident marks the 68th traffic fatality in El Paso for the year 2024, which is somewhat lower than the tally of 75 fatalities witnessed by this time in the previous year.
The loss of the driver, whose identity has not been disclosed pending notification of kin, adds to the growing concern over road safety in the area. With the holiday season often carrying an increased risk of traffic incidents, law enforcement and safety officials are urging drivers to exercise caution and vigilance on the roads.
