A workplace shooting incident in New Orleans East resulted in the fatal shooting of a Cox Communications employee yesterday afternoon. According to WWLTV, the shooting occurred in the 8000 block of Dwyer Road around 12:30 p.m. The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is currently investigating the shooting as a homicide after the employee succumbed to their injuries at the hospital later that evening.
Details surrounding the incident are still largely unknown. "We believe he was a Cox employee." NOPD spokesperson disclosed, "He was out there with a Cox truck," conveying proximity to the job at the time of the shooting. This information aligns with a statement obtained from Fox 8 that reveals little else about the circumstances leading up to the incident. The identity and age of the victim remain undisclosed, pending notification of next of kin by the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office.
Cox Communications, the employer of the deceased, has acknowledged the incident. "We're aware of a shooting involving one of our employees.
