Heads up to everyone navigating through Collierville: You might want to plan some extra time into your commute for the next few weeks. According to Town of Collierville official website, MLGW crews are now working on a gas line issue at the intersection of Poplar and Byhalia.
Starting from today, expect to see one eastbound lane on Poplar Avenue, stretching from Market Blvd. to Byhalia Rd., closed each day right from the early hour of 7 AM. The closure is necessary for repairs and is expected to last sometime between one to two weeks, so, get ready to tweak those morning routes.
Officials are urging drivers to consider alternate paths to avoid delays. It's always a bit of a hassle when roadworks spring up, and given that Poplar is a key thoroughfare, it's likely to impact a number of commuters.
The city has promised to keep us posted with updates, as and when they come through. If you're in need of real-time commuting updates, or you're just looking to avoid getting snagged in traffic, stay tuned. And remember, patience is more than a virtue when it comes to construction—it's a necessity. Your usual shortcut might just be a long cut for now.
