In a bizarre turn of events reminiscent of a holiday caper gone awry, Fall River police reported that a man found himself lodged in a chimney after a failed attempt to evade law enforcement. During an operation to serve a search warrant on Canal Street last night, two men were spotted fleeing the scene, with one opting for an unorthodox and ultimately ill-fated hiding spot.
According to WHDH, Robert Langlias, age 33, "invoked the essence of the seasonal icon and attempted to hide inside of a chimney." Officers executing the warrant were forced to switch rapidly from pursuit to rescue mode as Langlias became entrapped within the structure's narrow confines. The same report detailed that Langlias required the help of the very detectives he had been trying to elude.
The failed escapade did not end without consequences for Langlias, who, after being extricated from his sooty confines, was detained and charged. The list of charges includes possession of Class A drugs, possession of Class B drugs, along with responding to "a slew of charges from outstanding warrants," as reported by WCVB. A statement from Fall River police shared that, "Due to his Santa-antics, Langlias was transported to a local hospital out of precaution and was medically cleared."
The drama unfolded further when it was reported that another individual, Tanisha Ibay, 32, was also apprehended at the property. WHDH stated she was arrested and charged with possession of Class A drugs and possession of Class B drugs. Meanwhile, the other fugitive eluded capture by jumping onto a parked vehicle and fleeing into the night.
