Further details revealed by the Massachusetts State Police pointed out that the crash occurred within an inactive construction zone, with a pronounced shift in the lanes at mile marker 23.4. It was shortly past 5 a.m. when the incident, which involved a single vehicle, took its grim toll, claiming the life of the driver who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, as reported by WCVB.
As a result of the crash, Route 3 south remained closed as of 7 a.m., with authorities advising an alternative route for those traveling in the area. The Duxbury Fire Department cautioned that the highway is shut down at exit 27 until further notice. Drivers are advised to divert at Route 139 and proceed to Route 14 to reconnect with Route 3.
