
An incident on a busy Orange County road resulted in one fatality and one injury Friday evening, as confirmed by the Florida Highway Patrol. The collision occurred at the intersection of Silver Star Road and North Pine Hills Road in Orlando at approximately 7:10 p.m., as detailed in reports from WESH.
According to the FHP, a pedestrian was attempting to cross Silver Star Road when an eastbound 2009 Chevy Traverse hit him. A 54-year-old man from Apopka was driving the SUV. The pedestrian, whose identity has yet to be released, was pronounced dead at the scene, whereas the driver sustained injuries and was found still present when authorities arrived. Ongoing investigations by the FHP are probing deeper into the crash circumstances, ClickOrlando reported.
Traffic was notably affected following the accident, with eastbound lanes on Silver Star Road temporarily closed as emergency crews and Highway Patrol officers worked on the scene.
The driver involved in the incident was reported wearing a seatbelt during the crash and has not faced any immediate charges.
