A tragic incident occurred on the 1000 block of Industrial Blvd in Chula Vista last night when a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle. The Chula Vista Police Department reported that at approximately 6:14 pm, they received a call regarding a collision involving a black 2014 Toyota Camry and a pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle, a 44-year-old male from San Ysidro, stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Following the collision, police and paramedics rushed to the location to administer lifesaving efforts to the pedestrian. Despite attempting to save the individual, who was crossing from west to east outside of a crosswalk when hit, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has been withheld, allowing time for family notification.
While investigating the unfortunate incident, the Chula Vista Police do not suspect alcohol or drug impairment having played a role. The Traffic Bureau of the department is actively working to uncover the cause of the collision and asks any witnesses with additional information to contact them at 619-385-6652.
The Traffic Bureau is asking people who might have seen the collision to provide further details that could help understand the cause of this collision, which unfolded just one day before Christmas Eve.
