On Monday, a blaze broke out at the Humane Society of Silicon Valley's (HSSV) Animal Shelter in Milpitas. The fire has been contained, and no casualties have been reported.
According to a social media post from the department, the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety confirmed that all animals and staff were safely evacuated.
The department stated that the shelter would not accept public drop-offs until further notice. For those who find animals in need during this period, the Department of Public Safety encourages contacting their Animal Control Officers at 408-730-7178 ext 0 for assistance. "DPS Animal Control Officers will be contacted to assist you," the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety detailed.
