Last night, a fire erupted at China Gourmet, a Chinese restaurant in Center Township, Butler County. According to a report by WTAE, the fire started just after 7:30 p.m. and was primarily concentrated through the restaurant's roof. Dispatchers relayed that the beginnings of the blaze were traced to the kitchen, though the cause remains under investigation.
Firefighters faced a fire that had spread to the building's ventilation system. As reported by Butler Radio, crews had to execute their operation from the roof to douse the vigorous flames. An additional complication arose when a water supply was needed from a hydrant across the street at R.W. McDonald and Sons, which resulted in a temporary closure of Route 8.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident. As noted in the Butler Radio coverage, firefighting crews succeeded in controlling the fire by 8 p.m. The prompt response from the emergency teams ensured that the situation was contained without bodily harm to civilians or first responders.
