
Jayavierre Johnson, a former Douglas County jailer, was arrested on sexual assault charges. The arrest followed an internal investigation by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
After an investigation, Johnson, a correctional officer, was charged with three counts of sexual assault for having sexual relations with an inmate while working at the jail. The internal affairs division acted quickly, leading to his firing and arrest on Wednesday, as stated by FOX 5 Atlanta.
Douglas County Sheriff Tim Pounds emphasized that the Sheriff's Office holds itself to high standards, saying, "This kind of behavior will not be tolerated." Johnson, who is being held at the Douglas County Jail, is set for his first court appearance and bond hearing on Friday, as reported by 11Alive.
