Former sports coach and teaching assistant Todd Baldwin was arraigned in federal court on charges of enticing minors and receiving child pornography. The 44-year-old ex-employee of Valley Christian High School in San Jose stands accused of manipulating and paying high school boys, some of whom he dubbed "Teacher Assistants," to produce sexually explicit materials from December 2022 through August 2023,  the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of California reported.

Baldwin, now a resident of Bremerton, Washington, surrendered to authorities on October 28 after being charged by complaint in early October and by information in mid-November. According to the details of the charges, he paid the minors thousands of dollars via mobile payment services for the creation and alleged resale of the child sexual abuse materials.

In a related incident, the San Jose Police Department apprehended Baldwin on August 17, 2023, for holding and circulating explicit media involving juveniles. The arrest followed a search warrant executed at Baldwin's office at Valley Christian Schools and his home in Morgan Hill, reported Hoodline. He was later incarcerated at the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

Baldwin is currently out on conditional release and is expected to reappear in court on February 4, 2025, before U.S. District Judge Beth Labson Freeman.
