Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) will be giving away 200 Christmas trees complete with LED energy-efficient lights tomorrow. The giveaway, orchestrated in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade, aims to brighten the holiday season for local residents while promoting sustainable practices. As reported by CBS News Miami, the event will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, running from 5-7 p.m. at the Hank Kline Club location.
FPL's energy experts will also be present to share valuable tips meant to help customers save on their energy bills. By partaking in the FPL House of Savings Challenge, customers can learn cost-effective energy tips and stand a chance to snag a prize pack valued at $150. According to a news release from FPL obtained by Community Newspapers, the event starts with the line opening at 4 p.m. at 2805 SW 32nd Ave., Miami, FL 33133.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade have been a beacon of light for over 55 years, providing not just holiday cheer through their seasonal tree lot sales but also laying the groundwork for the future of Miami's youth through their extensive programs. These programs, which offer comprehensive services like educational, recreational, and mentoring initiatives, directly benefit from the proceeds of Christmas tree, poinsettia, and wreath sales, as highlighted by CBS News Miami. Rain or shine, the lot remains open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Tomorrow's event also serves as an educational opportunity, as FPL experts will be demonstrating how to reduce energy usage during the holidays, thus impacting not just the celebrations, but lifelong energy use. Attending families receiving Christmas trees and LED light strands will see firsthand the efficiency steps that can be taken. "FPL Energy Experts will share savings tips as customers get their homes ready for the holidays," stated a representative in an interview with Community Newspapers.
