
Tragedy struck the Milneburg neighborhood of Gentilly as a quadruple shooting left two people dead, including a teenage boy, and two others wounded. The gunfire erupted around 7:11 p.m. yesterday at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Madrid Street. According to WGNO, upon arrival, the New Orleans Police Department found multiple victims with gunshot wounds. Officers reported a 16-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old man were rushed to a hospital by car, where one succumbed to his injuries.
The fourth victim, suffering from gunshots, only 17 years old, was taken to a hospital by EMS, as stated in an update by WDSU. The NOPD has not released further details on the shooting victims' identities, aside from their ages and genders, and is actively working to piece together evidence that can shed light on a possible suspect and motive for this devastating incident.
The immediate area around Franklin Discount grocery store at 6100 Franklin Avenue became a focal point of investigation as police taped off the surrounding crime scene. According to Fox8Live, two of the victims arrived at University Medical Center in a black Toyota Corolla, prompting an urgent medical response. The NOPD has yet to confirm the sex and race of all victims, although preliminary reports from law enforcement sources identified all the shooting victims as black males.
