According to an article published by the City of Germantown, joining the returning Aldermen Sherrie Hicks and Brian Ueleke was Tony Salvaggio, stepping into a role previously held by his own father.
For Salvaggio, this induction marked an echo of history and a moment steeped with personal significance. "I remember standing in this very spot in 1986 for my father’s swearing in as alderman and, later in 1989, mayor," Salvaggio recounted. "It’s an honor to have him and my mom here to see me do the same, surrounded by my wife and kids." In his speech, he expressed a readiness to tackle the issues close to his heart, like public safety and education, and "serve with humility, dignity and compassion for the citizens of Germantown." Despite the ceremonial nature of the occasion, the sense of obligation is tangible as the new member of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen commits to action, according to City of Germantown.
Hicks and Ueleke, meanwhile, reiterated their commitment to the city's prosperity. Hicks, who's tenure has been lauded by local residents, said, "It is an honor and a privilege to serve this community as alderman," echoing the sentiments of service and dedication. Ueleke shared his excitement at continuing a legacy of support for the city's first responders and local educational institutions. "My family is proud to call Germantown home, and serving the community the last four years has been a tremendous honor. I am excited about the opportunity to continue to serve," Ueleke told officials from the city.
