A fatal domestic dispute in Glendale on Sunday morning has left a neighborhood in mourning after a man was shot and killed, reportedly by his son. Glendale police were called to the scene at 59th Avenue and Greenway Road at around 9:30 a.m., where they discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite emergency response efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by AZFamily.
Authorities have arrested the victim's son in connection with the shooting; however, the motive behind the tragic incident remains unclear. The names involved have not been released by police, but, individuals close to the victim have identified him only by the first name, Clinton, according to a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix. This incident marks one of several deadly domestic violence attacks that have happened in the Valley in recent weeks.
The shooting occurred at the Sagewood Apartment complex, a community where neighbors describe the atmosphere as familial. "A lot of us, we get together, we say ‘good morning,’ you know, it's family," Robert Poladian, a resident, told FOX 10 Phoenix. The same neighbor reflected on Clinton's positive impact on the community, saying, "Clinton, he was exceptional. He always talked about the lord and always wished blessings for everybody."
The complexity of the emotions facing Clinton's neighbors is evident as they approach the holiday season now overshadowed by tragedy. "It hurts, you know. I see him always walking, always ‘God bless you,’ ‘Merry Christmas.’ We had a thing going on Friday night like I said, but yeah, he's going to be missed by everybody," Poladian reflected, as per FOX 10 Phoenix.
