The Gresham Police Department is actively seeking witnesses to a deadly hit-and-run collision, which took place at the crossroad of NE Burnside Road and NE Cleveland Avenue, just after midnight on December 7. "The victim, 50-year-old Ryan Winchester, was crossing Burnside when he was struck by a passing vehicle," reported KATU. Winchester was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Following the incident, the driver involved failed to stop and has not been identified, prompting an investigation by the East County Vehicular Crimes Team. As the police attempt to piece together the events of that night, they are issuing a call for additional witnesses who might have seen the collision or any related events. Police are now looking to make sure they interviewed all the witnesses, KGW noted in their coverage of the ongoing investigation.
Gresham officers particularly want to hear from anyone who might have been in the vicinity at the time of the crash. Speaking to the need for public assistance, Officer Ryan Gomez has been specified as the contact for any tips, with the Gresham Police Department encouraging anyone with information to reach out.
