An apartment complex mail room in Gwinnett County was recently disturbed by more than the usual hum of dropped-off deliveries. Officials have taken 36-year-old Kyle Thomas Witzel into custody, suspecting him of a string of package thefts. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the Gwinnett County police said they were investigating after several complaints were lodged about packages disappearing from the Laurel Crossing Parkway building.
The police identified Witzel, a resident of the complex, through surveillance footage that depicted him pilfering packages. Upon arresting him, they uncovered not only multiple stolen items but also a large amount of marijuana and steroids, as reported by WSB Radio. Witzel has been charged with three counts of theft by taking, porch piracy, and possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, among several others.
Present now in the Gwinnett County Jail, Witzel awaits the continuation of the legal procedures. If anyone holds information that could aid the ongoing investigation, authorities urge those individuals to come forward.
