The Gwinnett County Police Department has launched an investigation following the fatal shooting of Jackmerly Jouselis Hernandez-Rodriguez, 31, in unincorporated Norcross. As reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, the victim's ex-husband, Victor Jose Yaraure Morillo, 35, is wanted on charges of Malice Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony.
Last Saturday, just after 7 p.m., authorities responded to a call at a residence on Creeldale Drive. The call, using a language interpretation service, reported that a woman had been shot. When emergency responders from the Gwinnett County Fire Department arrived, they confirmed Hernandez-Rodriguez was deceased. Detectives are working to determine if the incident was domestic-related, as both individuals had been living together after their divorce, according to the Atlanta News First.
Investigators are seeking Morillo, who fled the scene in a conspicuous 2016 black Toyota Corolla, distinct due to its missing passenger-side hubcap and a temporary license plate, numbered S2110371. Morillo is described as being 4-foot-11 inches tall and weighing 110 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
As the search for Morillo continues, detectives are gathering witness statements from those present during the shooting and working with the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death. Anyone with information on Morillo’s whereabouts is urged to contact Gwinnett County Police detectives at 770.513.5300 or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 404.577.8477 or www.stopcrimeATL.com. Tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward for information leading to his arrest and indictment.
