Yesterday morning in Half Moon Bay, a suspect was taken into custody on allegations of burglary, drug possession, and having stolen property. The San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies encountered Jose A. Reyes Neri, a 42-year-old known probationer, at a Chevron gas station on N Cabrillo Highway, evidenced by a release from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon making contact at around 1:15 a.m., deputies discovered Reyes Neri in possession of various drugs, paraphernalia, and items suspected to be stolen. Further investigation allowed deputies to retrace the items to their rightful owners, revealing that a local business was burglarized unnoticed on Sunday, and at least one of the items in Reyes Neri's possession was confirmed as stolen property from that business.
Reyes Neri, who was out on bail at the time of the arrest, is now facing multiple charges. These include second-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime, committing a felony while on bail, petty theft, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of unlawful paraphernalia.
Following the investigation, Reyes Neri was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility. The local business owners have been notified, and efforts are underway to return the stolen items.
