Two men have been indicted for a gunpoint home invasion in Harlem, striking fear into a 56-year-old woman and her young grandchild, a crime that District Attorney Alvin Bragg Jr. labels as nothing short of "horrific." According to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, culprits Justin Torres, 30, and Joshua Gomez, 33, stand accused of multiple robbery and burglary charges, including endangering the welfare of a child.

The unsettling incident that took place in the early hours of October 9, 2024, allegedly saw the pair forcing their way into the victim's residence after arriving in an automobile linked back to Torres they brandished firearms and commandeered the apartment, demanding the whereabouts of a safe while terrorizing the occupants, per court records and narratives disclosed in court. Having ripped through the domicile, they reportedly absconded with a secure, cash, assorted valuables, passports, a cell phone, and a purse; the accused were arrested after a joint effort by the NYPD and Manhattan D.A.’s Office.

Assistant D.A. Danielle Turcotte, under the guidance of higher entities in the D.A.’s office, is spearheading the prosecution, and the case is benefiting from the support of Trial Preparation Assistant Laila Skramstad. Acknowledgment for their contribution to the apprehension of Torres and Gomez extends to NYPD's Detective Alexis Gaton of the Central Robbery Division, among other dedicated members of the police force specializing in robbery investigations and the 28th Precinct Patrol and Detective Squad.
