
A 39-year-old man from Harvard was critically injured in a single-vehicle accident that occurred on US Route 14, according to local law enforcement agencies. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Harvard Fire Department, McHenry County Conservation District Police, and MD 1 responded to the scene on Friday evening following reports of the crash.
The incident, involving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, took place in the 9500 block of the route in unincorporated Harvard. Coming to rest on its side, the vehicle first exited the road to the west, and after what appeared to be an overcorrection, it veered across the road and off to the eastern side. The incident took place near 5:56 p.m., per the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
The driver, who was reportedly the lone occupant of the vehicle, was found to have been ejected from the vehicle during the accident. Subsequently, he was transported in critical condition by ambulance to Javon Bea Hospital – Riverside located in Rockford. It was noted that there was no airbag deployment in the Silverado, and the driver had not been wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, as detailed by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit is currently leading the investigation into the cause of the accident, according to official reports.
