Commuters in Hickory County should prepare for a change in routine as Route HH will be shut down for pipe replacement work. The closure, confirmed by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), will affect the stretch between County Road 346 and County Road 365 Loop southwest of Urbana. This necessary inconvenience will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, as stated by Missouri Department of Transportation announcement.
While the roadwork is underway, no traffic will be permitted through the work zone, however, Missouri Department of Transportation has confirmed that drivers will maintain access to their driveways and entrances at the ends of the work area, but for those hoping to pass directly through, such a venture will not be possible. Despite Route HH’s closure during the day, all lanes on the route will reopen during the night hours, helping alleviate some of the impediments to local nighttime movement.
Though no official detours will be signed by MoDOT, they advise travelers to plan alternative routes in advance of the closure. Warning signs and message boards are set to be placed to inform drivers as they approach the zone of work, aiming to reduce surprise and confusion. For up-to-date information on road closures and travel conditions, Missouri Department of Transportation recommends checking their Traveler Information Map.
However, it's worth noting that the schedule could be subject to change due to weather or other scheduling conflicts this reality serves as a reminder that even our solid plans laid down upon the earth, like the very pipes beneath Route HH, are at the mercy of the skies whims and human schedules.
