Two people were arrested in Holyoke on Thursday, following a coordinated raid by multiple law enforcement agencies. According to the Holyoke Police Department on their Facebook page, the arrests resulted from an extensive investigation and the execution of a search warrant at a home on 79 Newton St. The individuals are facing various drug charges.
The Holyoke Police Department Narcotics Bureau, FBI Western Mass Gang Task Force, Chicopee Police, Hampden County Sheriff's Department, and Hampden County Safe Unit took part in an operation. Officers found "deplorable living conditions," including no electricity or running water. Luis Rodriguez, 48, and Ernie Muriel Pastrana, 45, were arrested and face charges for drug possession and distribution, as well as illegal possession of ammunition.
Holyoke Police Department charged Rodriguez with drug offenses and three active warrants. During the raid, a code enforcement officer and the Board of Health inspected the poor living conditions. This shows a joint effort to address both drug crimes and unsafe housing in the community.
