
A driver was arrested in Indianapolis for reckless operation in a construction zone, according to Indiana State Police officials. FOX59 reports the incident occurred when an ISP trooper encountered a vehicle speeding through the I-465 work zone on the city's northeast side.
While progressing through the construction space, the driver was initially clocked at 82 mph before accelerating, Trooper Nick Cox noted the suspect hit speeds upwards of 101 mph in a section with a 45 mph limit. The event prompted immediate action, as the trooper engaged emergency lights, and the driver, identified as a 53-year-old male, complied and pulled over. Upon the lights activation, driving through the construction zone, the vehicle was stopped without further incident.
The Indiana State Police took to social media to address the arrest. John Perrine of the ISP Indianapolis District outlined the sequence of events on Facebook, confirming the driver's immediate cooperation and subsequent arrest following the dangerous maneuver.
Sgt. John Perrine publicized the arrest details, highlighting the dangers of such speeding in areas where construction workers and daily commuters share close quarters. According to a statement obtained by WTHR, the vehicle was impounded, though specific charges against the driver were not immediately released to the public.
