Gunfire erupted late Tuesday night at a Brooklyn Park apartment complex, leaving behind a trail of spent shell casings, bullet-pierced walls, and one minor injury. According to a release from the Brooklyn Park Police Department, the incident occurred in the 8100 block of Zane Ave N at around 10:51 pm on December 5, as reported by the Brooklyn Park Police Department. When police arrived at the scene, they found several shell casings in the courtyard and multiple bullet holes in one of the apartments.
Despite the violent display, officers were unable to elicit a response from within the apartment, leading them to enter to verify the safety of possible occupants. Fortunately, the unit was empty. It was during the investigation that officers made contact with an individual who had sustained an injury to their finger, but at this time, it remains unclear whether the wound was inflicted by a bullet or from shards of flying glass, and the individual declined medical treatment, as per the Brooklyn Park Police Department Alert.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigation team was brought in to process the scene while the Brooklyn Park Police Department continued their search for answers. As of now, there have been no arrests, and the identity of the person injured has not been released. According to a statement by the Brooklyn Park Police Department, "The case remains under investigation by the BPPD and HCSO," indicating their ongoing efforts to piece together the events of that night.
