Authorities are currently delving into the circumstances surrounding a freeway shooting on State Route 24 near Fish Ranch Road. The incident, which unfolded late Sunday evening, left two individuals injured, according to statements from the California Highway Patrol's (CHP) Golden Gate Division.
The shooting took place on Sunday around 10:30 p.m., prompting the dispatch of officers from the CHP’s Contra Costa Area office. Having been struck by gunfire while driving eastbound on SR-24, the driver and their passenger suffered minor injuries, necessitating their transport to a local hospital, as reported by the CHP Golden Gate Division's social media post.
Following the incident, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of the CHP Golden Gate Division took over the primary investigative duties. All eastbound lanes of SR-24 were temporarily closed, providing detectives with the opportunity to examine the scene of the shooting thoroughly.
