According to an official announcement on the Johnson City website, there will be no garbage or recycling collection on Christmas Day; residents are to expect a rescheduled pickup on Saturday, December 28, while the services will resume their regular schedule on New Year's Day, and for those in need of transit options during this period be advised, there will be none, with all services, including Fixed Route, Paratransit, Bucshot, and Job Access shutting down on December 24 and 25, and as the year draws to its close, the Transit System will cease operations early at 2:15 p.m. on December 31, remaining inactive through the first day of 2025.
While the office doors may be locked, the City ensures that emergency water and sewer services are still reachable. Residents facing emergencies during these off days are instructed to call 423.461.1643 for immediate assistance.
