As the holiday season quickly marches upon us, Johnson City residents are being duly reminded about the upcoming closures and schedule changes for city services. In a recent announcement, the Johnson City government outlined adjustments to its operations in observance of Christmas and New Year's Day. According to Johnson City's official website, all city offices will not be open on December 24-25 and January 1.

When it comes to keeping the city clean during the festivities, Solid Waste Services will suspend garbage and recycling collection on December 25. Residents should newly expect their garbage to be picked up on Saturday, December 28, while January 1 will see the collection schedule resume as usual.

For those relying on public transportation, it's worth noting the changes to transit as well. All transit services, which encompass Fixed Route, Paratransit, Bucshot, and Job Access, will cease to run on December 24 and 25. On the cusp of the New Year, transit will shut down earlier than usual, halting all operations on December 31 at 2:15 p.m., and will not resume until January 2.

In the event of a water or sewer emergency over the holidays, residents need to quickly reach out to the emergency line at 423.461.1643. City officials stress the importance of having this number handy, considering regular customer service operations won't be available during the closures.

Johnson City's Parks and Recreation facilities, including the Memorial Park Community Center, the Carver Recreation Center, and the Langston Centre, will also observe the holiday break by closing down on December 24-25 and January 1.
