
A Jupiter man was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver early Saturday morning while walking in Boynton Beach, prompting police to search for the suspect. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office reported that the incident occurred near the 6000 block of Old Congress Road around 2 a.m., where 60-year-old Robert Elsmore was hit from behind while pushing an empty wheelchair, found near the center line of the roadway, CBS12 stated.
Following the collision, Elsmore was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival. Left behind at the scene, investigators found vehicle parts that identified the car as a dark blue or black Honda, according to details from the sheriff's office. However, the identity of the driver who left the pedestrian dead on the roadway remains unknown WPBF reported.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is actively seeking information pertaining to the suspect and the whereabouts of the involved vehicle.
