A fire in Kalamazoo last night has resulted in the death of one individual, according to reports from local authorities. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) responded to the scene of a residential fire in the 4600 block of Clayborne Drive around 9 p.m., as confirmed by FOX17.
Despite the efforts of first responders who managed to quickly extinguish the blaze, a person was found dead within the residence. The incident was further reported by News Channel 3, stating that the fire was put out by 10:00 p.m. Officers were originally called to the fire on Clayborne Drive near South Drake Road at about 9:11 p.m.
The identity of the deceased has not been released to the public as investigators continue to work on the case. The KDPS Fire Marshal, along with detectives, is actively conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire, as indicated by statements from the KDPS and reported by WOODTV.
