
A tragic incident unfolded in Kentwood, Louisiana, where a 13-year-old boy was struck and killed by a vehicle while riding his bicycle. According to FOX8Live, the collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. yesterday, as the boy, identified as Benjamin Mixon, and another cyclist were traveling southbound on Highway 1061.
Benjamin sustained life-threatening injuries from the impact and, was later pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital. The second cyclist suffered moderate injuries, according to WDSU News. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still being investigated by the Louisiana State Police, and the driver of a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, involved in hitting the cyclists, was not injured in the crash.
Both cyclists were reported to be wearing dark-colored clothing at the time of the accident. In the wake of the collision, a routine toxicology sample was taken from the truck's driver for analysis, details of which are pending. The driver was wearing a seatbelt when the incident took place, added state police, as detailed by Audacy's WWL Radio.
