Downtown Kingsport will see significant road closures tomorrow to accommodate the city’s highly anticipated annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting event. Officials have confirmed that the festivities will begin with the parade at 6:00 p.m. and conclude with the Christmas tree lighting ceremony around 7:45 p.m.

According to the City of Kingsport's announcement, beginning at 2:30 p.m., several streets will be out of commission. Expect shutdowns on Clinchfield Street, stretching from West Center Street to Market Street, and along West Center Street itself, which will be closed from Clinchfield Street to Sullivan Street. East Center Street will also see closures from Sullivan Street to Clinchfield Street, along with various side streets in the vicinity. The City of Kingsport indicates these closures will all be in place by 5 p.m. and will persist through the evening events tomorrow.

Moreover, amidst the holiday cheer, some continued construction adds an extra layer to the traffic detours. The usual route through Main Street is currently a no-go between Broad Street and Cherokee Street, redirecting drivers to use Market Street instead.
