The search for a Knoxville murder suspect came to an end in Nashville when 21-year-old Kevin Martinez was arrested by undercover detectives. According to WSMV, Martinez was apprehended outside the Greyhound bus station as he was about to board a bus heading to California.
Martinez was wanted in connection with the last Thursday fatal shooting of 38-year-old Ernest Glenn. WKRN reports that officers responding to a report of a gunshot victim found two separate shooting scenes, one where Glenn was pronounced dead at the scene and another where a second victim was transported, to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. The second victim is reportedly in critical but stable condition.
The coordinated arrest was the result of a joint effort between the Knoxville Police Department (KPD), the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI). Knoxville Police Department's social media post praised the collaborative effort that led to the rapid location and apprehension of Martinez.
Details provided by MNPD indicate that undercover detectives from their TITANS Unit and Central Precinct officers acted upon the intelligence gathered, arresting Martinez when he stepped out of the station for a cigarette. The suspect is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault.
