Earlier this month, Lake Havasu City saw a prime example of identity theft and fraudulent schemes. A woman, Tiffany Bouchard-Hernandez, 50, was arrested by the local Police Department's Street Crimes Unit for her alleged involvement in a counterfeit boat sale that successfully deceived a financial institution out of $50,000, according to Lake Havasu City.
The Lake Havasu City Police Department, upon close examination, uncovered the fraudulent activities that involved fake identities and forged vehicle registrations. It was early November when the investigation initially began to unfold, seeking to piece together the intricacies of this deceptive transaction that involved a Florida-based financial institution. As reported by Lake Havasu City, upon being pulled over at the intersection of Jamaica Boulevard South and Acoma Boulevard South, Bouchard-Hernandez was promptly taken into custody.
In a coordinated effort, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit, bolstered by the LHCPD SWAT team, executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 3300 block of Jamaica Boulevard South. What they found was incriminating evidence in the form of various identification cards, laptops, and stolen mail, lending further credence to the allegations against Bouchard-Hernandez, as detailed by Lake Havasu City.
With the evidence seized, the Lake Havasu City resident was charged with multiple offenses including two counts of fraudulently committing fraudulent schemes, forgery, theft, and aggravated identity theft. Following her initial court appearance, she was held on a $10,000 cash-only bond and has since been transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, as stated by Lake Havasu City.
