A man has been pronounced dead following an overnight shooting incident in Lakeland, as confirmed by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office (SCSO). Deputies were dispatched to Justin Lake Cove around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of a confrontation, during which a shot was fired and the man was discovered unresponsive on the ground; he was declared dead at the scene.
While details remain scarce and the investigation continues, it is known that the assailants had fled prior to the arrival of law enforcement as per the accounts of local residents, nonetheless, the community has been left seeking answers and the SCSO urges those with information to come forward to aid the ongoing pursuit of justice, by contacting detectives at 901-379-7625 or via Crimestoppers at 901-528-CASH, Action News 5 reports.

Attempts to revive the victim were in vain despite efforts by Shelby Fire, the man was found shot after a reported gunshot heard by a bystander who spoke to officers at the scene, as Local Memphis has described.
